Attorney Martin D. Mehan

Background

Martin D. Mehan was born in the Chicagoland area of Illinois, but spent the majority of his youth in South Florida. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville and then returned to Chicago to study law at The John Marshall Law School. While attending law school, Mr. Mehan clerked for a prestigious personal injury firm and was a judicial extern for a Chancery Division Judge in Cook County, IL. After graduating in the top third of his class, Martin received a job offer from his friend and mentor in Gainesville and moved back to Florida to begin practicing law.

Mr. Mehan started his practice in the area of family law and estate planning where he developed his trial skills and enjoyed working closely with the local community. For the past 8 years, Mr. Mehan has devoted his practice to civil litigation. He has successfully tried multiple cases covering a variety of issues in the pursuit of justice for his clients. Martin also devoted a portion of his practice to representing insurance carriers, which gives him a unique perspective as he now pursues actions against those carriers. Additionally, he has consulted and advised small business owners in their rights and obligations under the law and has represented several small business owners in disputes involving their profits and work product.

Martin is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Illinois and focuses on personal injury law and other matters at the firm. He continues to enjoy working closely with the community to represent those in need of legal consultation. While trial is not always the most advantageous path to a beneficial resolution, Martin’s extensive experience in all stages of litigation means that he is not afraid to try a case when necessary, and will always work with determination and professionalism to achieve the right result.

Martin lives with his wife and two young children in the suburbs of Chicago. In his free time he enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching the Florida Gators and Chicago sports teams, and playing soccer.
